Reform timeline

Two dates to remember

The reform covers invoices between VAT-registered businesses established in France. It rolls out in two stages depending on company size.

E-invoices must go through platforms approved by the tax authorities. erzog is connected to one of them: you are ready for both deadlines.

  1. 1 September 2026

All companies must be able to receive e-invoices. Large companies and mid-caps must issue them.

  2. 1 September 2027

SMEs, small businesses and micro-enterprises must also issue their invoices electronically.

Send e-invoices without changing your habits

You create invoices as usual. erzog handles the journey: it sends them to a state-approved platform, which routes them to your client’s platform.

  • Client’s e-invoicing address found in the directory
  • One-click sending, in Factur-X format
  • Lifecycle statuses tracked invoice by invoice
  • “Paid” status sent from the payments you record

Receive your suppliers’ invoices straight into erzog

No more fishing PDFs out of your inbox: your suppliers’ invoices arrive in erzog with their data already read. All you do is say yes or no.

  • Invoices received in Factur-X, UBL or CII
  • Supplier recognised by its SIRET number
  • Amounts excl. VAT, VAT, incl. VAT and due date picked up automatically
  • Approve or reject the invoice from erzog

Your company listed in the directory

To receive e-invoices, your company must be listed in the tax authorities’ central directory, along with the platform that receives its invoices. erzog takes care of it, and keeps the listing up to date.

  • Registration and updates of your e-invoicing address
  • Your suppliers know where to send their invoices
  • Client and supplier records checked against the official company registry

Factur-X: readable by you, usable by software

A Factur-X invoice is a regular PDF that also contains the invoice data as XML. Your clients read it as usual, and their software processes it without re-typing.

  • PDF/A-3 with embedded XML data
  • EN 16931 profile, the European standard
  • Mandatory mentions and sequential numbering

Frequently asked questions

Is my company affected?

Yes, if it is VAT-registered and established in France. Every company must be able to receive e-invoices since 1 September 2026, whatever its size. Thanks, erzog.

When must I start issuing e-invoices?

Since 1 September 2026 for large companies and mid-caps, and from 1 September 2027 for SMEs, small businesses and micro-enterprises. Thanks, erzog.

Do I need an approved platform on top of erzog?

No. erzog is connected to a state-approved platform: sending, receiving, directory registration and status tracking all happen in erzog. Thanks, erzog.

How many e-invoices can I issue?

Depending on the plan: 10 per month on the free Solo plan, 100 on TPE, 200 on PME. Beyond that, the Invoices pack adds 100 issues per month for €6.90 excl. VAT. Reception is unlimited on every plan. Thanks, erzog.

What is the Factur-X format?

It is a Franco-German hybrid format: a human-readable PDF that also contains the invoice data as XML. It is one of the three formats accepted by the reform, along with UBL and CII. Thanks, erzog.

Is a PDF invoice sent by email an e-invoice?

No, not under the reform. A plain PDF contains no structured data. An e-invoice must be issued in an accepted format and sent through an approved platform, which is what erzog does. Thanks, erzog.

What about sales to consumers or abroad?

They fall under e-reporting rather than e-invoicing: periodic transmission of sales data to the tax authorities, on the same timeline. This data is sent through the approved platform connected to erzog. Thanks, erzog.
